Vertically challenged & dangerous.

Criminal mastermind, professional dwarf and fairground impresario, Mr Bartholomew Herring poses for a quick daguerreotype in 1883.

Strangely enough he was arrested just a year later on this very same carousel horse after a daring getaway attempt. Contemporary eyewitness reports confirm that the chase, involving several police constables, a small dog and a string of sausages, lasted for several hours. The felon was finally caught when the carousel's steam traction engine was shut down by a fairground worker to prevent overheating.
